Our Process
Kel’s Custom Cabinets predominantly provides cabinets through contractors and other valued trade professionals. However, private individual customers are always welcome and are an equally important part of our business. Since we feel that word-of-mouth referrals are the best compliment we can receive, customer satisfaction is a high priority at Kel’s Custom Cabinets.
Depending upon the desires of our client, Kel’s Custom Cabinets can provide more than just the cabinets for your project. These choices include the installation of cabinets, stained and painted finishes of the cabinets, various types of counters and decorative hardware to complete your cabinetry. From the attentive work of Kelly to the dedicated staff at Kel’s Custom Cabinets, the meticulous quality of your cabinetry is carried out in detail, every step of the way. We utilize furniture grade material from solid lumber to engineered wood panels, and hardware of the highest quality to produce custom cabinetry that will enhance the quality and beauty of your home. Wood species such as red oak, white oak, maple, cherry, walnut, alder, hickory, knotty pine, birch, poplar, and more; in special cuts such as plain sawn, quarter sawn, rift cut and rotary cut. Besides these species and cuts, other options are available for a more unique character, such as a rustic look, a knotty appearance, and a distressed look. Our typical cabinetry is made from the wood of your choice for the exterior of the cabinet along with a white melamine laminate for the interior. For open shelf cabinets, and cabinets with glass doors, the interiors are made of materials to match the outside of the cabinets. Drawer boxes can be solid wood dovetailed, white melamine, or for the budget minded, a white metal sided drawer is available. Drawer slides can be either side-mounted or concealed under-mounted; and are available in full extension or partial extension, with soft-closing features available. Doors typically have a concealed, european type, of hinge with 3-way adjustability. There are also many decorative styles of hinges available as an option. Doors and drawer fronts can be virtually limitless in terms of design. The type of doors and drawer fronts you choose, whether it is the sleek look of a flush slab style or the more elaborate mitered frame and panel with applied moldings (or anywhere between), will be a personal reflection of your desires for your home. Our most popular cabinetry is of a traditional style in stained or painted wood with a frame and panel door. These doors can have flat panels or raised panels and be of any style desired. There is a variety of door styles available to achieve the desired look as follows: Overlay style (the door overlaps part of the cabinet frame), Full overlay style (the door overlaps all of the cabinet frame), Inset style (the door fits inside of the cabinet frame), Beaded inset style (the door fits inside of the cabinet frame and there is a bead molding between the door and the cabinet frame). A typical project starts with Kelly meeting with you to review your plans or any ideas you may already have; such as pictures, special desires and appliance locations. We will assist you with designing the layout of your cabinets to fulfill the desires. Depending upon the complexity of the project, this meeting can take place over the phone, at the client’s home, or at Kel’s Custom Cabinets. After getting all the details such as rough measurements, wood species, door style, and any options desired, Kel’s Custom Cabinets will produce a preliminary estimate. The next step is setting up an appointment to finalize any additional details and get final measurements if possible. Then we will produce a cad drawing of the proposed layout and ask for a down payment to allow for the purchasing of materials and for scheduling the production of your cabinets. After the parts lists are made and engineering is complete, Kelly assists the talented craftsmen as they produce your cabinetry to exacting standards, ensuring that every detail is carried out. Your cabinets will be delivered with the same thoughtful and professional courtesy that went into all aspects of your project. With installation being the final step in your new custom cabinetry, we strive to have your new custom cabinetry experience; from the very first introduction to the very last details, be a memorable and rewarding experience! Thank you for your consideration of Kel’s Custom Cabinets. |
